Kohli has been in blistering form as of late, and has already put up two outstanding outings in both of India’s matches so far in the World Cup.
The swashbuckling former skipper played a magnificent innings in India’s opener against Australia, where the Delhi-native took control of what was panning out to be a disastrous chase for India, who were 2-3 at the beginning of their innings, chasing a mere 200 that seemed monumental in that point.

Kohli, along with strike partner KL Rahul, built a match-winning partnership, where the former skipper put up a calculated and composed 85 runs.
Although KL Rahul’s 97* was an innings that got India’s over the final hump, it was Kohli’s patience and rock-solid composure on the other end of the crease which allowed Rahul to play with the air of freedom and confidence.
Kohli followed up that showcase of batting excellence with yet another unbeaten 55* against Afghanistan in an encounter that saw sipper Rohit Sharma lace the Afghans for sixes and fours galore. And nothing less will be expected from either batters today as well.

On the other hand, Pakistan came into the tournament deflated following their loss to India in the Asia Cup semi-finals. But, despite skipper and premier batter Babar Azam’s struggles with the bat, the squad has stepped up and have made statement wins in their campaign so far, chasing down mammoth targets against the likes of Sri Lanka.

The numbers though do not seem favourable for the Pakistan side, as they are yet to record a single win against the Men in Blue in the World Cup. India, infact, holds a 7-0 win streak against Pakistan in ICC World Cup tournaments, and will most definitely be looking forward to keeping the streak going.
The two premier sides will be facing off against each other in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today.
