Jeep India yesterday launched the India-made Compass SUV at a staggering price of Rs 14.95 Lakhs for the base variant (ex-showroom, Delhi). Kevin Flynn, President and MD, Jeep India announced that ever since they opened the booking for Jeep’s newest product, the Compass SUV has managed to garner 5000 plus bookings and over 38000 enquiries.
You may remember, more than 1000 bookings were received by Jeep within 3 days of opening up the bookings of the Compass. Interestingly, these all bookings are registered before the Jeep announced the price of Compass, which is priced between Rs 14.95 Lakhs to Rs 20.65 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). With this sort of pricing, we expect the Jeep to attract more and more buyers who are looking for a compact SUV below Rs 20 Lakhs.
Jeep has currently 50 dealers across 47 countries and expect to increase the tally by 60 dealers by the year end. There are two engine options on offer, a 1.4 L Multiair Petrol unit and a 2.0 L Multijet II Diesel unit. Both the engines get a 6-speed manual transmission. Additionally, there’s also a 7-speed DDCT (Dry Dual Clutch Transmission).
With Compass, Jeep also launched ‘Mopar’ in India, the international ‘service wing’ of FCA. The Mopar brand aims to enhance the ownership experience of the Jeep and Fiat owners with an extensive range of services.
The Mopar brand takes care of aftersales service and customer care division along with genuine accessories and spare parts for cars sold under the various FCA brands. Flynn announced that in the first phase 48 authorised Mopar workshops will be opened across the country.
Features like maintenance plans, accessories and merchandise, a three-year/1,00,000km warranty will be offered as standard on Compass. ‘Mopar Assure’ for insurance solutions, ‘Mopar Care’ for 24x7 customer assistance and ‘Mopar Express Lane Service’ will also be provided, along with complimentary RSA coverage for three years to new customers.
