Bollywood films encompass a variety of elements, including romance, drama, action, and comedy. Intimate scenes, while integral for on-screen chemistry, can sometimes be stretched beyond comfort. The film Animal is a recent example, featuring numerous explicit scenes, including those depicting domestic abuse against women. This list highlights six Bollywood films famous for an abundance of adult scenes, making them unsuitable for family viewing.
1. Julie (July 23, 2004)- Directed by Deepak S. Shivdasani, Julie courted controversy due to the adult sequences between Neha Dhupia and other actors. Neha, however, refused to play the central character in the sequel of this film.
2. Siddhartha (DVD released in 2002)- Directed by Conrad Rooks, this film caused controversy in India due to Simi Garewal’s nude scene. At that time, the Indian Censor Board did not permit on-screen kissing as well between the actors. This caused a massive controversy and Siddhartha was eventually banned in India.
3. Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (February 1998)- Directed by Mira Nair, this film also courted controversy due to its bold sequences. According to IMDB, the Central Board of Film Certification banned the film before being passed with an A (18+) certificate in 1997.
4. Aastha: In the Prison of Spring (January 28, 1997)- Basu Bhattacharya directed this film starring Rekha, Om Puri, Dinesh Thakur, and others. It also caused a stir at that time with its sensual sequences between the lead actors.
5. Girlfriend (June 17, 2004)- Written and directed by Karan Razdan, it stars Isha Koppikar and Amrita Arora in the roles of lesbian lovers. There were some intimate sequences between the two actresses and became a controversial watch.
6. Jism 2 (August 3, 2012)- Directed by Pooja Bhatt, Jism 2 had a lot of adult scenes between Sunny Leone and Randeep Hooda and Arunoday Singh. Sunny made her Bollywood debut with this film.
