Sixty-four-year-old elephant Arjuna died on Monday after a fight with a wild elephant at the Yesalur range forest in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district. The elephant used to carry the golden howdah for eight years. The officials familiar with the matter said that the fight took place during an operation to capture a wild elephant. In the aftermath of Arjun’s death, Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeep dropped a condolence post on his social media handle.

Darshan shared a throwback picture with the departed elephant in which he is seen smiling as he posed with the giant animal. He looked joyous and cheerful as he held the left teeth of the elephant. The actor accompanied the post with a small note. He wrote, “It is sad that Arjuna, who won the hearts of the people of the state carrying Dasara Ambari 3 times, has died today in wild elephants. He is equal to Arjuna’s greatness! Om Shanti!”

Reportedly, Arjuna succumbed during the fight after the wild elephant’s tusk pierced his stomach. SP Mahadev, the assistant conservator of forests, said, “We launched a wild elephant translocation operation on Monday morning as a team of elephants arrived in Bengaluru from the neighbouring Chikkamagaluru district on Saturday.”

Arjuna participated in Mysuru Dasara for 22 years and carried the Ambari eight times from 2012 to 2019. The animal used to be a part of the Jamboosawari and is 2.88 meters tall. It weighs around 5,800 to 6,000 kg.

Meanwhile, Darshan is all set for the release of his highly anticipated mass entertainer, Kaatera. The film is slated to release on December 29. The film stars Challenging Star Darshan alongside debutante Aradhana Ram and is co-written and directed by Tharun Kishore Sudhir and Jadeshha K. Hampi.

Notably, the project has been produced by Rockline Venkatesh under the banner of Rockline Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
