Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Emergency has finally got a new release date. The actress took to her social media handles to announce the new release date of the film on Tuesday, January 23. Sharing a new poster of herself as Indira Gandhi, Kangana revealed that the film is now scheduled to be released on June 14, 2024. Although the film’s release was postponed to avoid clashes, the new release date now clashes with Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Kangana wrote, “Unlock the story behind India’s darkest hour. Announcing #Emergency on 14th June 2024. Witness history comes alive as the most feared & fiercest Prime Minister #IndiraGandhi thunders into cinemas #Emergency in cinemas on 14th June 2024.” Kangana has not only essayed the lead but has also directed the film.

The film was earlier supposed to be released in November last year. However, Kangana then announced, “Dear friends, I have an important announcement to make, Emergency movie is the culmination of my entire life’s learnings and earnings as an artist. Emergency is not just a film for me, it’s a test of my worth and character as an individual. The tremendous response that our teaser and other units got from everyone encouraged us all.”
“My heart is full of gratitude and wherever I go people ask me about Emergency’s release date. We have announced Emergency release date as 24th November 2023 but because of all the changes in my back-to-back releasing films calendar and over-packed last quarter of 2024, we have decided to shift Emergency to next year (2024). A new release date will be announced soon, please bear with us, your anticipation, curiosity and excitement for the film means a lot Yours truly Kangana Ranaut,” she added.
The film revolves around the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who had imposed the Emergency in the country in 1975. It also stars Anupam Kher in the role of opposition leader J P Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
