BCCI terminates broadcast deal with Nimbus
The BCCI will encash the bank guarantee of Rs 2,000 crore, while Nimbus is expected to approach the court.

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday terminated a deal with its broadcast partners Nimbus, sources told CNN-IBN. The BCCI will encash the bank guarantee of Rs 2,000 crore, sources confirmed.

After Monday's decision, Nimbus, which has been broadcasting India's home series as well as domestic tournaments, is expected to approach the court.

Earlier on Monday, the World Series Hockey, a city-based premier hockey tournament backed by Nimbus, was postponed until February next year after its dates clashed with Indian hockey team's camp for the Olympic qualifiers.

Nimbus was also the official broadcaster of the WSH. So the postponement of WSH and the snub by the BCCI should have come as a big setback for them.

The deal between the BCCI and Nimbus was to run until 2013.
