CBI arrests Syndicate Bank chief, MP Congress legal advisor for seeking bribe

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) is cracking down on top bank officials on charges of demanding bribes for loans.

The CBI arrested six people including chairman and managing director of Syndicate Bank Sudhir Kumar Jain on Saturday for receiving illegal gratification. He has allegedly violated banking rules. Jain wanted Rs 50 lakh from Prakash industries and Bhushan Steel against a loan.

The arrested included Jain's brother-in-law Vineet Godha. Godha is a legal advisor to the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress party.

Three of the accused have been sent on transit remand and will be produced in a Delhi court on Monday.
