The high-powered committee set by the government to tackle inflation is meeting to take stock of the present situation.
Chaired by the cabinet secretary, the meeting will specifically look at measures to bring about an immediate relief from inflation.
The meeting will be looking at steps to further reduce the prices of steel, iron ore and metal.
On the food stock front the committee will be looking at whether there is a shortage of food grains in states even now.
Secretaries of Agriculture and commerce ministry will attend the meeting as well.
Recently the cabinet committee on prices had slashed duties on edible oil.
