Dhanush will be playing the role of maestro Ilaiyaraaja in the latter’s biopic, if a new report is to be believed. Dhanush is currently busy with the making of Dhanush 50 and Dhanush 51 with Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna. While fans are eager to see what he has up his sleeve, a senior journalist has reported that Dhanush has signed the biopic of the singer and is set to go on floors next year.
“Exclusive news: Dhanush confirmed to essay Music Maestro Illaiyaraaja in his biopic! According to trusted sources, it is confirmed that National Award-winning star Dhanush will be playing Isaignani Illaiyaraaja in his biopic. Sources added that the movie will go on floors in 2024 and will release in 2025. This is likely to be a huge project given that it is about one of India’s music legends and has uber-talented Dhanush playing the role. The project is said to be produced by Connekkt Media,” senior journalist Latha Srinivasan shared on X.
“A few months back Yuvan Shankar Raja had said that he would love to see Dhanush play his father Ilaiyaraaja in his biopic and the stars seem to have aligned. This is the first biopic Dhanush will be seen in and it’s an iconic role. The Captain Miller star is one of Ilaiyaraaja’s biggest fans and this role will definitely bag him some awards I think,” she added.
Meanwhile, Dhanush is gearing up for the release of his next film titled Captain Miller. The film will hit the theatres on December 15. It is directed by Arun Matheswaran. Besides Dhanush, the period action drama also features Shiva Rajkumar and Priyanka Arul Mohan. He also has signed a film with Aanand L Rai. The duo, who worked in Raanjhanaa, announced that they are collaborating in Tere Ishk Mein. The film was announced on the film’s 10th anniversary.
