This year, the Sankranti week witnesses the release of several eagerly anticipated films, including Dhanush’s Captain Miller and the AR Rahman musical Ayalaan. The festive lineup, however, has led to a box office clash, causing challenges in theatre distribution in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Releasing movies during Pongal has been a time-tested success mantra for South Indian filmmakers.
