Superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were invited in person to the much-awaited event, Kalaignar 100. This event is to be organised by the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) on January 6, Saturday, at the Guindy Race Course in Chennai. As per reports, on Wednesday, January 3, the Tamil Film Association members handed over the initiation to Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. This news is currently doing the rounds on social media. As per reports, the TFPC’s Kalaignar 100 event is a celebration of the late DMK honcho and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi’s centennial year and his outstanding contribution to Tamil cinema. It was earlier reported that the event was previously scheduled to be organised in December, and both actors received their invitations in November 2023.
Earlier, the event was cancelled due to the Chennai flood caused by Cyclone Michaungh, which brought the city to an inundated halt in December. So the TFPC’s Kalaignar 100 event was shifted from December 24, 2023, Sunday to January 6, 2024 Saturday. Because of this, the two legendary actors from the Tamil entertainment industry were re-invited personally.
Reports suggest that aside from Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, stars like Ajith Kumar and Thalapathy Vijay have also received invitations earlier in November. They are also expected to attend Kalaignar 100.
Rajinikanth was last seen in the film Jailer. This Tamil-language action comedy film was directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and backed by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures. The film stars Rajinikanth in the lead role, alongside Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunil, Mirnaa Menon, and Yogi Babu in supporting roles. The movie received positive reviews from critics and also became the second highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023.
Kamal Haasan will soon be seen in the upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD. The film is written and directed by Nag Ashwin, and it will also star Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles. This action adventure drama is said to revolve around a modern-day avatar of Vishnu, a Hindu god, who is believed to have descended to earth to protect the world from evil forces.
