While India was taking on South Africa in the summit clash for the T20 World Cup 2024 title, Darshan Singh, the father of the left-arm pacer, Arshdeep Singh was seen in New York and spoke regarding what it’s like to see his kid shine on the big stage.
In a video uploaded on X, he was introducing his family which included Arshdeep’s mother and members of his extended family. The interviewer posed an interesting question on what it’s like to see his son represent the country.
“There is a lot of support, everywhere everyone is cheering India! India! which feels great. There is a small difference, a little extra you know, otherwise, it is India first, my son after,” Darshan responded.

Arshdeep has certainly taken his game up a level as he finished the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with a tally of 15 wickets in the 8 games he played in the tournament.

But despite Arshdeep shining as the tournament started, his father revealed that his beloved mother always remained more worried but he was calm and took whatever the result was in the right spirit knowing that it is a sport.
Darshan added, His mother is the one that worries a lot more, on the other hand, I know that it is a game at the end of the day and whoever plays better will win. But the mother tends to worry a lot and even takes God’s blessings as well”.
Arshdeep was able to shine in the biggest game of his career so far as he delivered with the wickets of the in-form batter, Quinton de Kock along with the South African skipper, Aiden Markram to give the Men in Blue some momentum early in the second innings.
