As the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have named the Ranji Trophy’s Player of the Tournament, Mumbai’s Tanush Kotian as their replacement for the Australian Adam Zampa.
The Australian leg-spinner who was retained by RR for 1.5 crores INR, pulled out citing heavy workload ahead of the T20I World Cup that takes place in June. In the previous season, he was mostly on the bench but picked up eight wickets in the six matches he played.
Kotian was brought in for the base price of INR 20 Lakhs.
The new addition, Kotian has had a stellar tournament in the Ranji Trophy where he went on to score 502 runs batting as a tail-ender as Mumbai went on to clinch their 42nd title. He also picked up 29 wickets as well during the season.
The right-hander has played in 26 first-class, 19 List-A and 23 T20s where he has picked up 75, 20 and 24 wickets respectively. He has also scored over 1000 runs in the FC format.
