India rode on a 156-run opening stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill on Saturday (July 13) to chase down the target of 153 runs in 15.2 overs against Zimbabwe and win the fourth T20I of the ongoing five-match series by 10 wickets. The win in the fourth T20I match played at Harare Sports Club helped India bounce back from 0-1 to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series.
Jaiswal top-scored for India by making 93 runs from 53 balls, while Gill remained unbeaten on 58 runs from 39 balls. The fifty on Saturday was his second straight half-century against Zimbabwe, and it also helped him become India’s leading run scorer in T20Is played against the African side.
After India hammered Zimbabwe in the fourth T20I to seal the series, BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise the Indian players and give a special mention to the two star batters.
In a tweet that is now going viral on the internet, Shah wrote, “What a way to clinch the T20I series! Top stuff from our young guns! @ybj_19 and @ShubmanGill were spectacular with the bat in the run chase. Congratulations to the entire team and support staff on a fantastic series win. @BCCI || #ZIMvIND”

In the must-win match for the hosts, Indian skipper Gill won the toss and opted to field first. Zimbabwe openers Wessly Madhevere (25) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (32) added 63 runs for the first wicket in 8.4 overs, but the hosts failed to build on that and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Thanks to captain Sikandar Raza’s 28-ball 46-run knock, they somehow managed to post a total of 152 runs on the board for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs, but it didn’t prove to be enough in the end.
During his 46-run knock against the Men in Blue, Raza completed 2000 runs in T20Is. He is the first batter from Zimbabwe to score 2000 or more runs in the shortest format of the game at the international level. He is also the fifth cricketer in the world to score 2000 runs and dismiss 50 batters in T20Is.
