With the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) around the corner, Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni has already started his preparations. After leading the Chennai-based franchise to a record-equalling IPL title last year, the legendary cricket is set to handle the captaincy duties of the side once again this time.
Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, Dhoni was recently spotted hanging out with his former India teammates Zaheer Khan, Parthiv Patel and Ashish Nehra. Parthiv even shared a picture from his meeting with the former India skipper on Instagram. In the post, the ex-India players can be seen sitting on a couch. While Zaheer, Nehra and Patel have retired from competitive cricket, Dhoni still features in the IPL.

During a function organised by Single.ID, MS Dhoni last week talked about his style of leadership and what it takes to handle the responsibilities as the captain of a team.
“Loyalty has a lot to do with the respect factor. When you talk about the dressing room, unless the support staff or players respect you, it is difficult to get that loyalty. It is actually about what you are doing and not about what you are speaking. You may not actually speak anything but your conduct can earn that respect,” MS Dhoni said.
“I always felt that earning respect (as a leader) is important as it does not come with the chair or rank. It comes with your conduct. People are insecure at times. Sometimes, even if the team believes in you, you are actually the first person who will not believe in you. To sum it up, don’t try to command respect but earn it, as it is very organic. Once you have that loyalty then the performance too will follow,” the World Cup-winning captain added.
After enjoying a triumphant IPL campaign last time, Chennai Super Kings fans are now eagerly waiting for MS Dhoni to make a comeback this year. Dhoni had to deal with a knee injury throughout the last season but that could hardly deter him from leading Chennai to their fifth IPL title. Facing Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 final, Chennai, under the leadership of Dhoni, emerged victorious by five wickets.
