Fans witnessed two shocking visuals during SRH vs LSG match at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 8.
The first was certainly Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma’s carnage, chasing a target of 166 in mere 9.4 overs.
The result of this match transpired another set of shocking visuals wherein LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka was seen giving a dressing down to skipper KL Rahul. Team dressing rooms witness such incidents generally. However, for a change, the field of play and consequently, broadcast cameras and the fans caught the incident.
After too much of furore amongst the fans, experts, and media reports speculating a change in LSG captaincy with just two matches remaining, assistant coach Lance Klusner cleared air and washed off all the talks at once, or at least tried.

“No, certainly no discussions around that. I don’t see any problem with some robust discussion between two cricket lovers. I don’t see any problem with that,” Klusener said at the pre-match press conference on the eve of his side’s game against DC.
“For us, I guess it’s just a storm in the teacup. We love a robust discussion. I think that’s how teams get better. So it’s not a big thing for us. I think as you said we’ve got two games to go it doesn’t really matter what’s happened in the past,” he added.

LSG were on the receiving end of a hammering of sorts from Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. After scoring at a little over eight runs per over, LSG conceded runs at 17.28.
While the team management would be concerned with the bowling unit’s performance and overall morale in the dressing room, Klusener once again purported that the hammering was a one-off and Head and Abhishek’s batting should be credited more.
“I think by the bowling units’ standards, they didn’t execute as well as they would’ve liked to on that surface and then, you mix in two players who played absolutely beautifully and quite often, that ends in a poor result for the team that doesn’t bring their best skills.

“So it was just a mix of some exceptionally hard batting and I don’t think we executed our skills as well as we should have and you mix that together doesn’t normally end well.”
Despite being in a comfortable position compared to some of the other teams in playoffs race, LSG face a steep challenge going ahead. For starters, they have been one of the slowest scoring teams this season and the Arun Jaitley Stadium has been the venue with highest run-rate with four out of four games witnessing 200+ scores.
LSG have two games to play and might ease in to the playoffs with two back-to-back wins. But even a single hiccup could kill their chance to qualify with the poor NRR they have. Klusener said that the team is not looking at past and is only focussed on upcoming two games.
“We’re focusing on the next two games and how best we can get over the line in both of them. Whether we then qualify or not, I guess that’s of our own making from the way we’ve played. But our focus really is just to get over the line tomorrow and then we’ll worry about Mumbai after that.”
