Watch: Navdeep Saini's Jaffa Stuns Shubman Gill; Rishabh Pant's Brilliant Grab Dismisses Mayank Agarwal
Navdeep Saini seems to be on a roll. After scoring a fifty with the bat, he has struck twice in the second innings to give India B the momentum.

Just when you thought that Shubman Gill was gearing up for a big knock, it took an absolute peach of a delivery to dismiss the Indian batting sensation as Navdeep Saini struck twice on Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy fixture between India A and India B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday.

After a fine half-century, the former RCB pacer struck twice with the ball to give IND-B the momentum. Saini’s delivery pitched well outside off but since the ball pitched on the seam, it resulted in it moving back into the right-hander and crashing onto the stumps.

The second wicket was more due to the fine take by Rishabh Pant. The delivery was pitched on the middle-stump line and was moving away past the leg side. But a faint edge by Mayank Agarwal resulted in Pant diving to his left to complete the catch and give India B the second wicket.

India B looks firmly in control of the fixture with a heft score on the board along with wickets coming regularly during their bowling innings. Saini on the other hand will be eager to get even more wickets to possibly stake his claim and make a return to the Indian team.

Coincidentally, Saini was part of the famous squad that travelled to Australia and won the Border-Gavaskar series in 2020-21. Despite being injured, Saini had gone on to bat despite an injury and held his end for just enough time as Rishabh Pant scored the winning runs to make it a historic series win.

Performances in the Duleep Trophy will certainly be looked at as India aims to increase their fast-bowling depth. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj have been India’s frontline pacers but the lack of depth could prove to be costly in the upcoming BGT 2024 series in Australia.
