A 19-year-old college student allegedly died by suicide by jumping off from the 14th floor of a building in Mumbai where she was residing. The girl, identified as Vidhi Kumar Singh, was a student of Mithibai College and had been living in the building as a paying guest for the last few years, police said, reported ANI.

“A college student committed suicide by jumping from the 14th floor of the Millionaire Heritage building in Andheri in Mumbai. As soon as information about the incident was received, DN Nagar police reached the spot, took the body in their custody, and sent it for post-mortem,” a DN Nagar police station official told the news agency.

The student’s blood-soaked body was found by the building watchman who informed the society members and they in turn called the police. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway. DN Nagar police station official said that the student left behind a one-page note. “The girl was worried about something and that is why she took this step,” the police said.

In another case, a first-year hotel management student died by suicide after allegedly consuming sleeping pills in Bengaluru. The student was allegedly suspended from college. A few days after his suspension, the student had penned his thoughts in a notebook in which he mentioned how disturbed he was with what had happened in college due to an old matter and the management was not allowing him to return to his classes, police said, reported PTI.

The student was staying at a paying guest accommodation in Chandra layout with his friends. “He was suspended about a month ago citing his behaviour, indiscipline and absence from college. Depressed over this, he allegedly consumed some pills on Thursday which led to his death,” a senior police officer said.
