Yogesh Meena of Karauli, Rajasthan, has cracked the country’s one of the most difficult exams, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in his second attempt. He secured the 66th rank and brought glory to his family and community. To achieve this success, he even rejected a high-package job worth lakhs in the United States of America. Last month, the UPSC Exam 2023 was declared, which saw many promising candidates achieving success because of their hard work and determination. A resident of Kalarankapura village, Yogesh Meena cracked the Civil Services Examination (CSE) with 66th rank on his second attempt.
In 2022, Yogesh Meena appeared for the UPSC CSE, but he did not succeed. Instead of giving up hope, he doubled up his efforts and worked extra hard to crack the exam on the second attempt, a feat which was difficult but was completed successfully. His accomplishments have created an ambience of happiness and pride in his family and village.
Yogesh Meena’s father works in the Customs Department in Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority in Maharashtra. His mother never received a formal education. Hailing from a modest family background with roots in Rajasthan, he currently resides in Navi Mumbai.
Yogesh Meena pursued his graduation in computer science from IIT- Bombay. After the completion of his degree, he got a job offer from an American company in 2020, with an annual package of Rs 70 lakh. It was always his desire to join the administrative services. So, after two or three months, he left his high-package job to pursue his passion for becoming a civil servant, which brought him back to India.
After coming back to India, he decided to prepare for the UPSC exams and began to take coaching in Mumbai. He did not get success on his first attempt, he made sure to work on himself and do better on the second attempt. In an interview, he credited his elder brother and sisters for their contribution to his success. He said that they were the guiding light and motivated him to get into administrative service.
