UP Education Dept Adjusts School Timings As Mercury Rises
As the temperature is rising day by day in the state of Uttar Pradesh, people of the state are seen avoiding going out during the daytime.

As temperatures soar across Uttar Pradesh, concerns about heat-related illnesses have prompted the state’s education department to adjust school schedules. Beginning April 25, schools for students from Class 1 to Class 12 in Lucknow will operate from 7:30 am to 1 pm. This decision aims to protect children from the sweltering heat, as incidents of heatstroke have been reported from various regions.

The initiative, mandated by the district magistrate of Lucknow, Surya Pal Gangwar, is a precautionary measure against the rising temperatures during the daytime. It applies to all schools, including those under different boards and private institutions, until further notice. District officials emphasised that the new timing, spanning from early morning to midday, is vital for safeguarding students’ well-being.

Following Lucknow’s lead, several other districts in Uttar Pradesh are also adjusting school timings. District magistrates in various regions are issuing orders to alter schedules for both government and private schools, targeting classes from nursery to Class 8. In some districts, schools will operate from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, while in others, classes will continue until 1 pm. These decisions reflect a proactive response to the health risks posed by extreme heat.

Parents have welcomed the move, expressing relief over the protective measures for their children. With heatwave alerts issued in many states, concerns about students’ health have escalated. The adjusted school timings alleviate worries about prolonged exposure to high temperatures, reducing the risk of heat-related ailments.

Uttar Pradesh’s education department’s decision to modify school timings underscores a commitment to prioritise students’ health and safety amidst rising temperatures. By implementing early morning schedules, authorities aim to mitigate the adverse effects of severe heat on children, providing reassurance to parents across the state.
