Aayush Sharma Says Industry Thinks Salman Khan ‘Decides Everything’ For Him: ‘There’s No Family…’
Aayush Sharma says makers feel Salman Khan's family will interfere with script if they work with him. He adds having no qualms being 'yelled at' by directors.

Salman Khan’s brother-in-law Aayush Sharma marked his acting debut with Loveyatri and then followed it up with another Salman Khan Films’ venture, Antim: The Final Truth. Next up for him is Ruslaan, which marks his first project outside the Khan family’s home production. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Aayush confesses that while working within family has given him a lot, it has also sent out a false image of him.

Talking about the biggest misconception that the industry has about him, he says, “People think that I don’t have brains of my own and that everything is decided for me by the Khan family. They love me but this isn’t true at all. Everyone had great intent for me but that also meant that I was protected and I didn’t know the real industry.”

He adds, “There’s a different world and thought process outside Salman Khan Films. I realised it soon after Loveyatri. There was a certain notion about me out there. I had the inclination to go out and have my own fair share of hits and flops and formulate my own graph as an actor.”

He further reveals that filmmakers are often in two minds about casting him in their films assuming that his family will interfere with their process of working. “More than telling me a no on my face, I think filmmakers are wary of involving me in their films. They feel like if I come aboard their films, I’ll bring in a certain baggage. However, that’s unfortunately not the truth but a perception,” he tells us.

Aayush goes on to elaborate, “They have a perception that I’ll bring my family with me to a film and that they would insist on seeing the script and decide if the film is going to be good for my career or not. But I’m the one who makes decisions for myself and I’m the one going out there, reaching out to directors to make me a part of their films. There’s no family involvement there.”

Reiterating how he doesn’t depend on his in-laws to further his career and is focused on starting everything from the scratch with Ruslaan, Aayush asserts, “A part of me wants to break this image that I somehow have. I’m here to work. I don’t come with a baggage thinking that if I’m coming from a particular family, people need to treat me differently. I’m okay to be yelled at.”

And so, he has been personally reaching out to filmmakers to offer him films that can help the industry as well as the audience see a new and different side to the actor in him. “I call up filmmakers and ask them for auditions in case they have any reservations about my capability. I tell them, ‘Please sir, give me an opportunity. I really would want to work with you if you’ve something for me and you think I fit a part.’ I’m open to playing an antagonist or do a supporting part as well,” he says candidly.

Ruslaan is slated for a theatrical release on April 26.
