New Delhi: AC Milan star Ronaldinho thinks that if David Beckham performs well in his brief stint with the club, he should be kept on for more than just a few months.
David Beckham's loan deal with Milan has sparked a lot of debate in Italy, which isn't likely to end anytime soon.
The former England captain has signed a contract that lasts until June, but there is a gentleman's agreement between Milan and LA Galaxy, the club who still own him, that the player will be allowed to return to the US on March 9.
This means Beckham will only have a chance to wear the Rossoneri's prestigious shirt for a mere two months, which could be some kind of record, and this has led many to question the reasons behind this move, other than selling T-shirts.
Midfielder Rino Gattuso took a clear stand on the matter a few weeks ago, when he said: "It's a strange move, it would have been nicer if he had stayed an entire season."
Ronaldinho, whose arrival at Milanello last summer also caused a lot of scepticism which ultimately proved to be unfounded as the Brazilian has made a strong start to the season, also gave his opinion on the matter to Brazilian radio station Rede Bandeirantes.
"I am very happy about Beckham's arrival, he can help us win," he said. "However, if he does well he should stay more than just four months."
Certainly the prospect of seeing the likes of Ronaldinho, Beckham, Kaka, Clarence Seedorf, and Andriy Shevchenko in the same team is a mouth-watering one for any football fan, but it remains to be seen if coach Carlo Ancelotti will manage to keep his side balanced as he tries to find a place for the Spice Boy during his brief stay at the club.
