Mohammed Salah is expected to continue as a Liverpool player.
At the beginning of the 2023-24 season, the forward was being heavily linked to a move to the Saudi Pro League. With no deals reportedly solidifying, the Egyptian superstar continued competing in the top flight of English football.
Salah seems to be happy where he’s at and Saudi Pro League’s Director of Football Michael Emenalo couldn’t agree more.
While speaking to Sky Sports Football, he said, “Mo is happy where he is at present and in a historic, wonderful club at Liverpool. We respect that very much and we don’t want to come across as putting any pressure on him.”
Michael Emenalo seems to be one of the many fans of the Liverpool star.
He was quite vocal about the impact Salah had in the world of football.
Emenalo said, “Mo Salah is a player that you want in your league, in any league.”
Emenalo also explained how he was in a tier of class players alongside the likes of Inter Miami star Lionel Messi, Al Ittihad forward Karim Benzema and Al Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Emenalo, whenever any board feels that players in that class are available, they always try to make a move. “Mo Salah, like Messi, Benzema, Ronaldo and the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, these are players that when there is a sense of availability for them, we are willing to listen,” he concluded.
Earlier this summer, it was reported that Al-Ittihad had put up a £170 million bid for Salah. However, the English club had no interest in letting their star player leave. Even head coach Jurgen Klopp rubbished the transfer rumours suggesting that Salah wasn’t going anywhere.
Salah signed for Liverpool back in 2017. In his first full season, Salah broke the record for the most Premier League goals scored in a single 38-game campaign with 32 nettings.
He also made it to the Champions League final that year where they lost to Ronaldo’s Real Madrid.
Salah has played a total of 327 games for Liverpool while scoring 200 times. He has also provided a total of 87 assists at the English club.
Salah isn’t having the best of seasons in 2023, yet he has managed to accumulate 14 goals in 22 appearances. He will next feature in the Premier League’s most storied derby where Liverpool will be taking on Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United at Anfield this weekend.
Salah currently has 18 months left in his contract.
