Real Madrid have completed the signing of midfielder Sami Khedira from Stuttgart on a five-year deal.

Madrid: Real Madrid have completed the signing of midfielder Sami Khedira from Stuttgart on a five-year deal.

The Bundesliga side have confirmed an agreement has been reached with the La Liga giants with the 23-year-old moving to the Bernabeu for a reported fee of £11.7 million (€14m).

The player had been continually linked with a move to Madrid over the summer following his impressive displays for Germany in the World Cup.

Khedira has agreed a contract until the summer of 2015 with los Blancos and will put pen to paper after some final medical tests have been completed.

Stuttgart sporting director Fredi Bobic says the club could not deny Khedira his ‘dream move’ to Real Madrid.

"Sami Khedira is a true leader on the pitch and he personifies everything that Stuttgart stand for. Therefore, it's not easy to let go of him," he told the official Stuttgart website.

"However, on the other hand, we couldn't deny Sami his dream move to Real Madrid. We'd like to wish him all the best at his new club."

Stuttgart were pleased with how smoothly the negotiations over a deal for Khedira with Real went.

A club statement read: "In the end everything went very quickly and those responsible for the VfB and Real Madrid agreed a switch from midfielder Sami Khedira in the Spanish capital.

"As soon as the German international has completed the sports medical examination at the Royal, he puts his signature on the contract."
