Roy Hodgson will remain England coach till 2016 despite their elimination from the FIFA World Cup.

Football Association (FA) chairman Greg Dyke said that Hodgson will keep his post till the 2016 European Championship in France. He added that the FA is behind Hodgson, who will start preparing for Euro 2016 in September, reports EFE.

England were eliminated from the World Cup after suffering two consecutive losses to Uruguay and Italy in Group D.

"We're supportive of Roy Hodgson. We've asked him to stay as manager. That is the view of myself, of everybody else here and of others in the FA. We don't see any value in changing. Roy has done a good job and it is an approach over four years. We hope to do better in the European Championship," Dyke said.

"Everybody thought we played really well in the first game and narrowly lost. In the second game it could have gone either way. We were not humiliated or anything like that. They were narrow defeats but it is for the football people, not for me, to identify why we did not win.

"We know that we have a problem that there are not as many English players playing in the Premier League or even the Championship now as there used to be. That is what we have got to go from and I don't think that is a cause for what has happened here," Dyke added.
