"I’m qualified to tell you that that is not the title for Avatar 3," said John Landau.

Film director James Cameron spelled history with the much-acclaimed film franchise Avatar. First released in the theatres back in 2009, the sci-fi action drama went on to become one of the highest blockbusters. Avatar’s popularity enabled the makers to create a sequel titled Avatar: Way of Water which too became a hit in the theaters. Now, fans are gearing up for Avatar 3, expected to hit the silver screens on December 19, 2025. Amidst this, speculations are rife that the third installment might be called Avatar: The Seed Bearer. But, Avatar’s film producer Jon Landau has revealed that it was not the case.

In a recent interaction with Comicbook.com, Jon Landau cleared the air about Avatar 3’s title rumours. He said, “I’m qualified to tell you that that is not the title for Avatar 3. That’s what my Wikipedia page says? That is getting changed tonight!” Ladau conversed with Comicbook.com during the promotional launch of an Avatar-related video game named — Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

James Cameron’s Avatar franchise will have three more films to the list that are lined up after Way of Water. According to a BBC report back in 2018, the tentative titles of the other three films are — Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider, and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa. Although the titles have not been confirmed yet, the news has made fans excited nevertheless.

In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight, James Cameron, the director did not give away any hint about the titles of the lined-up Avatar film franchise. Neither confirming nor denying anything about the title speculations, simply said, “Here’s what I’ll tell ya: Those titles are among titles that are in consideration. And no final decisions have been made yet.”

James Cameron, at the 2023 Screen Production and Development Association conference in New Zealand spoke on the hectic post-production schedule of Avatar 3. In a conversation with host John Campbell, Cameron said that they were presently juggling with jam-packed schedules. Confirming that Avatar 3 will be released in 2025, the filmmaker said, “We’re into a very hectic two years of post-production right now. So it will be Christmas of 2025”.
