Joey King Has This To Say About Jacob Elordi's The Kissing Booth Comment
The first film in The Kissing Booth franchise released in 2018, followed by a second and third installments in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Actress Joey King, renowned for her role in the widely popular, The Kissing Booth Netflix teen rom-com franchise, recently responded to the criticism voiced by her co-star, Jacob Elordi. The actress, attending the Balenciaga fashion show in Los Angeles on a Saturday, candidly shared her perspective on the matter, stating, “I think it’s unfortunate anyone would feel that way. I had a great time making those movies, no matter what anyone says.” The disappointment echoed not only among the casts but also resonated with the dedicated fans when Elordi reportedly expressed his discontent with the franchise in an exclusive GQ Men of the Year cover story.

Jacob Elordi had reportedly commented on The Kissing Booth film series saying. “I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies. Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape.”

However, later in the evening, Elordi attempted to downplay the reactions, expressing gratitude with the words, “I’m incredibly grateful to everybody in it.”

At a recent Men of the Year party, Taylor Zakhar Perez, another integral part of The Kissing Booth series ensemble, shared his sentiments, stating, “I thought it was a shame because, to my knowledge, everybody else had such a wonderful experience,” reports Variety.

Perez, reflecting on the larger context, added, “Especially when those movies came out, it was a time when we needed something like that. I know from our fan interactions, getting stopped everywhere I go, what ‘Kissing Booth’ means to people and what it brought them during such a dark time. I guess the silver lining is it still makes people laugh and feel good.”

The Kissing Booth franchise, directed, co-written, and produced by Vince Marcello, narrates the high school romance between Elle (played by Joey King) and Noah (played by Jacob Elordi). Taylor Zakhar Perez’s character adds a new layer to the story in the second installment, becoming another love interest for Elle.

The first film in the franchise released in 2018, followed by a second and third installments in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Amidst the discussions surrounding the future of the franchise, Joey King was asked about the potential for a fourth installment. She said, “If there were to be a fourth installment, it would be picking up where Elle and the gang are in their fifties or something, just to drop back in with them and see where they’re at,” writes Variety.

The prospect of further exploring the characters in a different life stage has left fans curious about the future direction of this beloved teen romance.
