- Go to your carrier's website to set up call forwarding, if you have access.
- Alternatively, use the Access Numbers with AT&T's Remote Call Forwarding feature if you have it added to your plan.
- You can also call your carrier to forward calls from a phone that you don't have.
Using Your Carrier's Website
Access your carrier's website. Some carriers, like Verizon, offer a call forwarding page that you can use to forward a Verizon phone number, as long as you have manager privileges on the account. If you have a digital phone plan through AT&T, you should have access to portal features, like call forwarding. Log in to the portal. For T-Mobile, go to the devices page. This method is great if your carrier offers call forwarding services online, like Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T digital plans. If you can't find your carrier's website, move on to the next method.
Navigate to your phone's features. Depending on your carrier, the steps to do this will differ. For example, Verizon users click the phone, then Manage device, and Manage under "Call Forwarding" while AT&T plan subscribers go to My digital phone > My voicemail & phone features > Phone features and click the arrow next to "All Call Forwarding." T-Mobile subscribers select the phone that they want to forward calls from, then go to Calling & Contacts > Block and manage calls, and enter the number to forward calls to.
Enter the phone number you want to forward to. Since you already picked the phone that you don't have on you, you can enter the number that you want your calls to ring to, including the area code.
Save and verify your changes. You may be prompted to confirm the forwarding change with your email address and a code that you can enter into the website. Follow the same instructions to turn off forwarding but erase the forwarding number.
Using Access Numbers (AT&T Landlines)
Dial the special number given to you. You got this when you added Remote Call Forwarding to your plan. This is something that you had to add manually to your monthly plan. This only works for AT&T local home phone service. If you have a wireless or digital plan, you'll have to try something else. Some other home or business phone service providers also offer this service. If you're not sure whether your carrier offers this feature, contact customer service and ask if it's possible to set up "remote access to call forwarding" with your plan.
Dial your 7-10 digit home phone number. This is the number that you plan to forward to another phone.
Dial your PIN. You received this as soon as you finalized the phone plan or through the mail after you added this feature to your plan.
Press 72#. This code indicates that you want to forward that number. This is called a vertical service code. Other phone carriers may use a slightly different code, such as *72.
Dial the number that you want to forward all your calls to. You may need to enter the country code, if required. Re-enter the forwarding number again if prompted, and now you'll get all the calls from your original phone to the new number! To stop forwarding, call the special number again, enter your home phone number, enter 73#, and follow the instructions to deactivate call forwarding. Press * any time you make a mistake while entering phone numbers, and the prompt will begin again.
