Making a Bourbon Fig Cocktail
Fill a glass with ice. To start, take a glass and fill it with a few ice cubes. You only need a few cubes of ice to cool the cocktail adequately.
Pour your ingredients into the glass. Add 1 ounce (~48 grams) of fig fruit spread, 4 fl oz (120 mL) of vanilla cream soda, and 1 ⁄2 fl oz (44 mL) of bourbon. Alternatively, swap out the bourbon for the same amount of brandy.
Mix slightly and serve. You do not need to mix this drink too much. You can use a spoon to stir the ingredients together a few times. Then, pour it into a cocktail glass and drink it or serve it to a guest.
Making a Vodka Fig Cocktail
Prepare your fig puree. Before making your cocktail, you will need to make the puree. To make the fig puree, combine 2 cups (300 g) of fresh figs, rinsed and halved, 1 tablespoon (12.5 g) of sugar, 2 teaspoons (9.9 mL) of filtered water, and 1 teaspoon (4.9 mL) of freshly squeezed lemon juice in a blender. Run the blender until the mixture is smooth and even throughout. You can use the puree to make the cocktail immediately. You can also refrigerate it for 2-3 days.
Combine the puree and honey. Mix the fig puree and ⁄2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) of honey in a cocktail shaker. Use a spoon to mix. It's important to mix the puree until you have a smooth mixture, so be patient and take your time.
Add the remaining ingredients. Once the puree and honey is mixed, add 2 fl oz (59 mL) of ginger ale, 1 ⁄2 fl oz (44 mL) of vodka, and 2 teaspoons (9.9 mL) of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Then close the lid of the cocktail shaker tightly. Make sure it's closed completely, as you don't want to end up with a mess.
Shake and strain the cocktail. Shake the cocktail vigorously for 10-15 seconds to mix all the ingredients evenly. If it's not as sweet as you like, add ⁄2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) of honey and shake it again. Pour it through a mesh strainer into a glass. This cocktail tastes best when served in a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish it with a fig.
Making a Tequila Fig Cocktail
Mix all of the ingredients in a shaker. Add 1 ⁄2 fl oz (44 mL) of tequila, 1/2 ounce (~24 grams) of fig preserves, ⁄2 fl oz (15 mL) of orange juice, 5 rosemary sprigs, and ⁄2 fl oz (15 mL) of ginger syrup.
Add ice and shake the mixture. Put the top on, then shake the cocktail vigorously for 10-15 seconds. This should mix all your ingredients together.
Strain the mixture into a glass and garnish with rosemary sprigs. Use a mesh strainer to strain the ingredients into a cocktail glass. Garnish it with rosemary sprigs before serving.
Making a Cointreau Fig Cocktail
Make the thyme simple syrup. You will need thyme simple syrup for this cocktail, which you should prepare before you mix the other ingredients. For the thyme simple syrup, mix 1/2 cup (100 grams) of sugar and ⁄2 cup (120 mL) of water in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. After the sugar dissolves, add 5 sprigs of thyme. Allow the mixture to simmer for 10 more minutes. Let them mixture cool for a bit before making your cocktail.
Add the syrup and figs. Pour your simple syrup through a strainer into the bottom of a mixing glass or cocktail shaker. Then, add 1 quartered fig. Use a spoon to break the fig into small pieces.
Add ice and the remaining ingredients. First, fill the mixing glass almost all the way full with ice. From there, add 1 ⁄2 fl oz (44 mL) of pisco, ⁄4 fl oz (7.4 mL) of Cointreau, and ⁄2 fl oz (15 mL) of lime juice. Put on the top or lid of the shaker or mixing glass, making sure it's tightly secured.
Shake your cocktail. Ensure the lid is secure, then shake your cocktail for about 10 seconds. This is as long as it will take to mix the cocktail.
Strain the cocktail and serve. You will need a fine mesh strainer to strain the cocktail. This will keep small bits of fig from getting into your cocktail. You should garnish the cocktail with a sprig of fresh thyme before serving.
