Seriously. There’s no reason you specifically couldn’t nail one of these right now. Take a look!
What are the easiest world records to break?

Easiest World Records to Attempt Right Now

Most socks put on one foot in 30 seconds The only major rule here is that you have to put the socks on one at a time. Other than that, the socks can be whatever size or style you’d like. We recommend using those ultra-stretchy dress socks for the lower layers. Current world record: 28. Danger level: Moderate. Make sure that you stop if you start feeling like your circulation is being cut off or your foot hurts. Difficulty scale: High. We think you’d be best off practicing your form for a while before giving it an honest attempt.

Tallest toilet paper tower in 30 seconds You can only touch one roll of toilet paper at a time. That said, this one seems extremely doable. You just need a ladder and enough vertical space to pull it off. Current world record: 28. Totally beatable, right? There isn’t even a height requirement—you just have to stack 28 individual rolls. Danger level: Low. Just be careful on the ladder. Difficulty scale: Low. The record doesn’t specify that you can’t use the jumbo rolls with the big, thick sides, by the way (wink, wink).

Most Smarties eaten in 60 seconds with chopsticks while blindfolded For the non-Americans out there, Smarties are a chalky little treat commonly given away as Halloween candy in the US. If you want a sweet treat alongside your world record attempt, this one is for you. Current world record: 20. Danger level: Low. You can poke your eye with a chopstick if you’re really reckless, so just don’t go too crazy. Difficulty scale: High. This just sounds plain hard, to be honest.

Fastest time to find each letter in alphabet spaghetti This one sounds very beatable to us. You just have to take a bowl of alphabet soup and use a spoon to remove each letter in the alphabet. Current world record: 3 minutes and 21 seconds. With 26 letters in the alphabet, at 201 seconds, that gives you almost 8 seconds to find each letter. Danger level: None. The soup can’t hurt you. Difficulty scale: Low. V is the real troublemaker since it tends to break very easily.

Most football (soccer) touches in 30 seconds If you enjoy playing keepy-uppy or you’re a hackeysack pro, going for this record may just be good fun. It’s a pretty tough record to beat, but if you can keep a soccer ball off the ground, it’s worth a shot. Current world record: 252. Danger level: None, so long as you don’t try this indoors, where you might break something expensive. Difficulty scale: Moderate.

Fastest time to eat a 12 in (30 cm) pizza with a fork You have to actually swallow the pizza, which significantly cuts down on how many attempts you can try in one sitting. This one seems pretty beatable, though. Current world record: 23.6 seconds. Danger level: Moderate. Don’t choke, take sips of water between bites, and stop if you start feeling stomach pain. Difficulty scale: Moderate. This feels more like a test of will than anything else, to be honest.

Most clothespins clipped to your face No good will come from this, but people online seem super interested in beating this one, so we’d be remiss to skip it. The rule is that the clothespins have to be standard-sized and they have to stay on your face the whole time. Current world record: 51. Danger level: High. We really don’t recommend you try this, but so many people seem interested in trying that it felt wrong not to include it. Difficulty scale: High. Seriously, don’t try it!

Most pushups with hand claps in one minute If you’re going to break a silly world record, why not pick a silly world record that will make you unfathomably buff? Current world record: 90. Danger level: Low. Just stop early if you’re struggling to get back in the pushup position after clapping. We don’t want you whacking that pretty little face of yours in the pursuit of greatness. Difficulty scale: High. 90 pushups in a minute is nuts on its own, but you also have to clap.

Longest rubber band shoot If you grew up shooting your siblings or classmates with rubber bands, you may have what it takes to put your mark in the history books. The rules here are that you must do this indoors (no help from the wind today!) and you cannot use anything other than your hands. Current world record: 90 feet (27 m). Danger level: Moderate. The odds are high you’ll snap a few bands and sting yourself on accident. Difficulty scale: High, but there’s a low barrier to entry on trying this one.

Most plastic bottle caps stacked with chopsticks in 30 seconds This is another record that seems very doable with enough practice. Admittedly, it does seem like choosing the right kind of bottle cap is the whole deal here. Current world record: 23. Danger level: None. Difficulty scale: Moderate. You need good dexterity, but it’s not a particularly challenging task once you get some practice in.

Fastest time to decorate six cupcakes The delicious food records continue with this unique challenge. This is one where you have a specific list of ingredients though, and you must use all of them. You need: six cupcakes (all on different plates), buttercream icing, sprinkles (or desiccated coconut/crushed nuts), and cherries or jelly sweets. Current world record: 39.1 seconds. Danger level: None. Decorating cupcakes might actually be the single safest activity known to man. Difficulty scale: Low. Decorating cupcakes isn’t particularly taxing or complicated. Speed is the entire name of the game here.

Fastest time to make a bed The only bummer here is that you must use a single bed or a king bed. You have to make the bed yourself, and this includes a fitted sheet, top sheet, and comforter. Good luck! Current world record: 28.2 seconds (single bed) / 1 minute and 9 seconds (king bed). Danger level: Low. Just don’t strain yourself by trying to jump over the bed. The record holders all won by finishing one side at a time. Difficulty scale: Moderate. This requires a lot of quick thinking and planning.

The Easiest and Safest World Records for Kids

Most selfies taken in 3 minutes You are allowed to use a selfie stick, but you are not allowed to use the continuous shooting mode. This is a good, low-effort one since you don’t need any additional supplies, but you may wear your shutter button finger out after 3 minutes! Current world record: 184. Danger level: None. Well, we guess you could potentially lose an eye if you drop your phone at the wrong angle or something. Just keep a tight grip, okay? Difficulty scale: Moderate. 184 is a lot of selfies, and counting all of them after each attempt requires more brain power than you’d think.

Fastest time to assemble a Mr. Potato Head toy This one is fun because it also gives you an excuse to buy a fun new toy. You get to use both hands here, but you do have to put the right features in the correct holes. Current world record: 6.62 seconds. We don’t know how they did it, either. Danger level: Low. Potentially non-existent. Difficulty scale: High. It’s a pretty tough record to beat!

Fastest time to unravel a roll of toilet paper with one hand We’re not actually sure what the winning strategy here would be, so feel free to get creative with it. The challenge page also doesn’t specify what kind of toilet paper you have to use, so look for the cheapest, thinnest brand you can find. Current world record: 9.8 seconds. The world record holder, Dalibor Jablanovic, also holds the world record for most spoons balanced on a person’s face (31). If you feel like building a very unique rivalry, you could try and go for both records! Danger level: None. We can’t even sarcastically invent a scenario where you’re in danger on this one. Difficulty scale: Low. The raw freedom you have here really keeps this from getting out of hand (pun intended).

Largest bubble gum bubble blown This is a fun one that really just involves chewing a lot of gum. In fact, the hardest part might be measuring the bubble without accidentally popping it. Pro tip: The world record holder says that the firmer a gum initially is, the better it is for blowing bubbles. They recommend using Dubble Bubble or Bazooka gum for this. Current world record: 50.8 centimeters (20 inches) in diameter. Danger level: None. Just don’t choke on your gum by trying to swallow it when you’re done. Difficulty scale: Low. You’re just blowing bubbles.

Most mandarins peeled in one minute If you happen to be under 16, this might be the most breakable record on the list. You get to use both hands, and you’re allowed to use whatever strategy or mechanics you want, so there’s tons of room here to innovate. Current world record: 4. Danger level: Low. Just don’t overdose on vitamin C by eating all of those citrus fruits after peeling them! Difficulty scale: Low.

Most sticky notes stuck on your face in 30 seconds All you need is a pile of sticky notes and skin smooth enough to handle the adhesive! This one seems quite doable to us. The only rub is that you can’t count any sticky notes that come off in layers, so if you accidentally grab three sticky notes mid-run, you can’t count it as more than one sticky note. Current world record: 38. Danger level: Low. Just stay away from your eyes and don’t accidentally slap yourself. Difficulty scale: Low. We’re pretty confident you can do better than 38.

Most T-shirts folded in one minute The shirts must be folded in a traditional 3-fold method, although we’re pretty sure you’re allowed to use the “pinch” technique, which should be the fastest way to go. Current world record: 23. Funnily enough, the current record holder also holds the record for most T-shirts put away in one minute. We like to think they broke that record immediately after folding them. Danger level: None. Difficulty scale: Moderate. You do need a fair bit of dexterity to pull this one off, but it’s nothing crazy if you practice a bit.

Most ollies on a fingerboard in one minute Remember Tech Decks? If you’ve ever needed an excuse to relive your childhood skater dreams, now is your chance. You’ve just got to pull off a bunch of ollies in a minute and you’re going to go down in infamy! Current world record: 128. Danger level: Low. You could potentially sprain a finger or something, but you should be fine. Difficulty scale: Moderate. This actually requires a surprising amount of dexterity, but we believe in you!

How to Certify a Guinness World Record

Apply for the record on the Guinness World Records website. Before you do anything, sign up with Guinness World Records online here and complete your profile. Then, find the specific record you want to tackle in their database and read the rules thoroughly to ensure you aren’t accidentally rejected for not following protocol. Most records have a quick application you fill out with your info for Guinness’s records. Every single record attempt we’ve listed in this article is currently available in their database for new attempts!

Document the record-breaking attempt per the guidelines. After your application is approved (many applications are approved instantly), you’ll be given specific guidance on how to document your record-breaking attempt. For most records, a witness and complete, unedited camera footage of the record-breaking attempt are enough to earn you a plaque or certificate. Some of the more elaborate records require someone from Guinness to come out and witness the attempt in person. That shouldn’t be the case for any of the records we outline here, though.
