Fans Troll Ramiz Raja For His ‘U-Turn’ After Questioning India’s Asia Cup Participation In 2022
Fans were critical of the former PCB Chief, Ramiz Raja for travelling to India for the World Cup 2023 when he himself said that he wouldn't do so if India did not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Ramiz Raja has been brutally trolled by cricket fans for his double standards at the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Pakistan took on the Netherlands at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 6 in their World Cup opener. During the toss, Ramiz Raja asked Pakistan skipper Babar Azam how he was being treated by India. “How is India treating you?” he enquired. Babar seemed to be pleased with the host country’s treatment of him and his team. He promptly replied, “India has looked after us so well, everyone is enjoying”. Babar’s honest response sparked some reactions from cricket fans who called out the Pakistan commentator for making a swift ‘U-Turn’ after what he had to say about India late last year.

One of the fans wrote, “Ramiz Raja as a PCB chairman said that Pakistan would not travel to India if India didn’t come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup (which they didn’t) but now he has gone to India himself since getting removed as PCB chairman.

A post on platform X read, “Ramiz Raja bragged about the Pakistan team not coming to India for the World Cup 2023 if team India doesn’t play the Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan. Team India didn’t go to Pakistan but both Pakistan and Ramiz Raja are in India.”

“During his tenure as PCB Chief, Ramiz Raja was threatening ICC that Pakistan won’t visit India. Now, along with the Pakistan Team, he himself is in India to work with an Indian channel”, posted another account.

A fourth individual wrote, “Ramiz Raja who didn’t want Pakistan to travel to India for the World Cup is the first guy from Pakistan who came and did commentary in India.”

During his tenure as the PCB Chief, Ramiz Raja had issued a warning to both India and the International Cricket Council (ICC). He said that Pakistan won’t be participating in the World Cup that India were hosting if the Men in Blue didn’t play the 2023 Asia Cup in Pakistan. “If they do not come then…let them play without Pakistan”, is what Ramiz had to say to Urdu News, according to several media outlets, in November last year.

India and Pakistan have squared off at the World Cup a total of seven times. The Men in Blue emerged victorious in each of those fixtures. India recorded their biggest victory against Pakistan on June 16 in the previous edition of the tournament in 2019, beating them by 89 runs. As of October 6, the current head-to-head tally between India and Pakistan stands at 7-0 in World Cups. The visitors will be looking to change this statistic against India on October 14.
