A 55-year-old woman died on the spot while four others were hospitalised with serious injuries in a road accident that took place on Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) here on Friday.
According to police, a swift car carrying five persons overturned on the road when one of the tyres got punctured and the driver lost the control over steering.
The woman, Pochamma, died on the spot after receiving serious injuries on her head. The injured were identified as Jayaramaiah, Masthan, Padma Rao and Venkatesh. The accident took place when the five were heading to Patancheru from Vijayawada.
A few customers, who were sitting in the Chaman hotel, noticed the accident and alerted the RGIA police and 108 emergency staff. On receiving information, police recovered the dead body from the car and shifted the injured persons to nearby hospital
