Communal tension erupted in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi and Buldhana districts on Tuesday over reports of stone pelting on a Ganesh idol during the immersion procession being taken out on Anant Chaturdashi. According to sources, at least 10 people have been injured in the incident.
Police have registered complaints in connection to the matter and have detained 60 people so far.

What Happened?
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Additional Commissioner of Police Dnyaneshwar Chavan said that the Ganpati immersion procession near the Hindustani Mosque in Bhiwandi started peacefully and was proceeding without issues. However, tensions arose when a stone was thrown, sparking altercations among the crowd.
“The situation is now under control, and those involved in the disturbances are being identified for legal action. Some individuals have been detained for questioning, and further actions will follow,” the Additional Commissioner of Police added.
