2 ART centres to boost AIDS treatment

CHENNAI: In keeping with the theme ‘Getting to Zero’ two anti-retroviral therapy (ART) centres in Madurai and Tirunelveli, will be upgraded as ART Plus Centers shortly, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr V S Vijay announced on the occasion of World AIDS Day,  in the city on Thursday.“These two new second line ART centres in Madurai and Triunelveli will reach out to people who have become resistant to first line ART treatment,” said Dr Vijay. Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy, Girija Vaidyanathan, principal secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Maxwell Hamiltion, political and economic officer, US Consulate and  Dr AC Mohandoss, project director, TANCAS (Tamil Nadu AIDS Control Society) were present on the occasion.
