Srinagar: Six people were injured in a powerful grenade explosion on the outskirts of Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon.
Militants lobbed a hand grenade at a police vehicle in Narbal market on the Srinagar-Gulmarg road, police said.
"After hitting the police gypsy, the grenade exploded on the road, injuring six civilians. The condition of one injured person is serious," a senior police official said.
The injured have been rushed to SMHS hospital in Srinagar.
Security forces immediately reached the spot and the entire market place was searched.
No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion so far.
Recently, seven tourists from West Bengal were killed and 40 others wounded in a string of grenade explosions that rocked Srinagar on July 11.
