The 61st Senior National Kabaddi Championship will begin in Patna from Tuesday at the Patliputra Sports Complex stadium. Altogether 32 teams (16 men and 16 women) are taking part in the four-day championship.
Matches will be played in two synthetic court laid in the indoor sports complex. Altogether 448 players are taking part in the championship in which national standard technical officials would conduct the matches, Dinesh Patel, secretary of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) said.
This will be the second big kabaddi event to be held in Patna at the sports complex after Womens World Cup Kabaddi championship held in 2011. Sixteen teams each in men and women section have been divided in four groups for league matches, Kumar Vijay, secretary of the Bihar State Kabaddi Association (BSKA) said.
Men's:
Pool A - Karnataka, Chandigarh, Vidarbha and Hyderabad.
Pool B - Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Haryana.
Pool C - Indian Railway, Rajasthan, West Bengal and
Punjab.
Pool D - Uttar Pradesh, Services, Madhya Pradesh and
Bihar.
Women's:
Pool A - Maharashtra, West Bengal,Tamil Nadu and
Himachal Pradesh.
Pool 'B' - Indian Railway, Punjab, Chhattishgarh and
Bihar.
Pool 'C' - Haryana, Vidarbha, Manipur and Pondichery.
Pool 'D' - Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh
and Delhi.
