New Delhi: Four AAP MPs on Thursday urged Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to take immediate steps to improve the power situation in national capital.
Seeking strong action against power companies responsible for the maintenance of the distribution network, the four Punjab MPs also demanded that the pattern in which electricity is distributed from the central grid to different parts of the city, be made public.
In a letter to Goyal, the MPs Dharamvir Gandhi, Harinder Singh Khalsa, Prof Sadhu Singh and Bhagwant Mann said it was surprising that VIPs living in Lutyen's zone in central Delhi get uninterrupted power supply at cheap rates while common people in other parts of the city are suffering due to long power cuts. "We demand that the central government should take all possible steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of power to all parts of the national capital without any discrimination," they said.
The MPs also met Jung this evening and raised their demands. "You (LG) are requested to strictly enforce the accountability of these discoms. We request you to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and also reduce the electricity bills in Delhi by resuming the subsidy," MPs said in a memorandum the L-G.
