ANGUL: The district administration is in a spot over local Bar Association decision to oppose the Angul Mahotsav slated for December 23. The lawyers have been on a stir since last week demanding a district court here. The lawyers had earlier called for a ban on the entry of MPs and MLAs. The call to oppose the three-day ‘Taranga’ festival followed the lackadaisical attitude of the State Government to their demand, association members said. They are irked over the fact that despite the district being carved out of undivided Dhenkanal in 1992, there is no district court here. Bar Association general secretary Jitendra Sahu said the fund earmarked for the mahostav should instead be diverted to better the facilities in hospitals here.“If the Government continues to ignore our demand, we will call for a bandh and paralyse industries in the district,” he said, adding that the Government recently cleared four district courts, ignoring Angul again.
