Ghaziabad: A 24-year-old second-year student of Ambedkar University in Delhi allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Ghaziabad, three days ago. He had been pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.
A senior police officer said that the deceased was identified as Prince Kumar. He had been living in Ghaziabad along with his family and was a member of a scheduled caste.
According to police sources his father had scolded Prince over some issues three days ago following which the boy allegedly took the extreme step.
Prince had been living in depression, police sources confirmed. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared to be dead upon arrival.
The body has been sent for post-mortem. Police officials failed to confirm the exact reasons behind the suicide, which are yet to be ascertained.
Inquest proceedings under section 174 of the CRPC have been initiated.
