Hyderabad: BJP leader and former Union minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao has called upon all pro-Telangana forces to join hands to carry forward the Telangana movement and to set a fresh deadline, September 17 (Hyderabad State Liberation Day), to the Centre for declaration of Telangana state.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s state headquarters here on Monday, Rao accused the Congress of adopting delaying tactics on the Telangana demand since 2004 and now playing a new drama by sending feelers to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti. He was of the view that the Congress was enacting the new drama in view of the presidential election. The Congress-led UPA government’s stance on Telangana became well-known during the last budget session of Parliament when the ruling party moved a resolution for suspension of of eight of its own MPs from the Lok Sabha, he said.
“The state government has made all the arrangements for installation of the statue of Telangana tribal leader Komaram Bheem on the Tank Bund in the state capital but is dilly-dallying on its unveiling. This is another example of the state government’s bias against Telangana,’’ he said and asserted that only a united and relentless struggle could make the governments bow to people’s demand.
Turning to other issues, he urged governor ESL Narasimhan to remove the five tainted ministers, who received notices from the Supreme Court in Jagan’s case, from the cabinet. “The withdrawal of one of the 26 GOs proves that the government admitted that it had erred in issuing the GOs. The governor should intervene and dismiss all other five ministers.”
The former Union minister of state for home demanded that minister TG Venkatesh tender an unconditional apology to the IAS fraternity in the state for his irresponsible comments on IAS officers.
