Appoint district-level RTI officers

HYDERABAD: With the state government appointing eight new Information Commissioners, the call has now grown loud for appointing district-level RTI officers. This will enable people from far flung districts to make full use of the RTI Act without worrying about travelling to Hyderabad to file appeals with the Information Commission, said Dilip Kahasty, Manakosam RTI Society.V Srinivasa Rao, general secretary of the society also took the opportunity to applaud the appointments of the eight ICs, but threw in a word of caution that filling the posts with persons having political background would do little good.
