Armed dacoits looted cash and jewelleries worth Rs 11 lakh after injuring six members of a family in Bihar's Sitamarhi district, an officer said on Thursday.
The dacoits barged into the house of Mukesh Kumar in Hanuman Nagar village late on Wednesday night and exploded crude bombs injuring six members of a family before looting Rs 1 lakh cash and ornaments worth about Rs 10 lakh, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Akhilesh Kumar Singh said.
The injured persons have been admitted to Sursand Primary Health Centre (PHC) where the condition of all was stated to be out of danger, he said.
The incident sparked off protest as villagers blocked NH-104 demanding suspension of Navneet Kumar, who is the in-charge of Mitha police outpost. Senior police officials went to the spot to pacify the protestors.
