There are many temples across the country which have great historical significance. Some of these temples are well maintained while some of them are in ruins due to lack of proper management. The states and central governments constantly try to revive these temples and historic places to make India a favourite place for tourists. These temples speak about our culture and heritage since ancient times. Today we will talk about one such temple which was neglected for many years but was recently renovated. The temple has a unique ritual that makes it more famous among the tourists.

The temple we are talking about is the Ottachayi Amman Temple, located near Kattanachampatti village which is close to Rasipuram in the Namakkal district, Tamil Nadu. The deity which is placed inside the temple is considered the guardian deity by the local people.

Adding to it, the deity is believed to be around 500 years old. People from across the state visit this temple to take blessings. According to a report by Local 18, the temple was not in its best condition for several years. It was renovated in 2023 after which Kumbhabhishekam (consecration ceremony) was performed. The ceremony was performed with great joy and pomp.

A special event was held after a year of the Kumbhabhishekam ceremony. The event was done on the day of Aadi Amavasai, the new Moon day in the Tamil month of Aadi. Devotees who had their wishes fulfilled offered more than 200 chickens to the temple administration. The chickens that were offered were sacrificed and around 500 kgs of meat was cooked. The cooking process was carried out overnight. A grand feast was organised by the temple administration. More than 2000 people were fed in the feast. People from other villages and cities visited the temple to take part in this grand feast.
