Auditorium on government estate soon

CHENNAI: An auditorium would soon be built on the vacant site that once housed the landmark Kalaivanar Arangam, CM J Jayalalithaa told the State Assembly on Wednesday.Kalaivanar Arangam on the Omandurar Government Estate was demolished in December 2009 to make way for the Secretariat-Assembly Complex, during the previous DMK regime. Participating in the discussion on demand for grants to departments including tourism, CPM MLA G Bheem Rao said that a modern auditorium was promised when Kalaivanar Arangam was pulled down. Intervening, Jayalalithaa said a magnificent auditorium would soon come up on the site soon.
