Aurangabad: The 17-year-old son of a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, who was allegedly behind the wheel when his SUV killed a two-year-old child in in Aurangabad, has been granted bail. The ownership of the car is now being questioned. Reports said that it is owned by Abdul Qadeer Maulana's elder son. CCTV images showed how the teenager lost control, killing a toddler and seriously injuring three others.

The teenager was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Wednesday but tensions ran high on Tuesday soon after, with a mob vandalising the SUV.

The children were walking with their uncle when the teenager hit the trio before ramming into another vehicle and a shop. The CCTV footage showed that it was Maulana's teenage son at the wheel of the SUV.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning. According to police, the minor boy was behind the wheel at the time of incident, while car driver Mohammed Amar Chaus, was seated beside him.

The two-year-old deceased, and her three-year-old sister Sayali were on their way to a temple along with their uncle, Shirish Sonawane when they were hit by the car near the Hudco TV Centre chowk, senior inspector Pratap Baviskar of Cidco police station said.
