Bangalore court to pronounce punishment in NLS student gangrape case
A Nepali national in her early 20s was abducted and raped by a gang of local youth in October 2012.

Bangelore: A lower court in Bangalore will pronounce the quantum of punishment in the gangrape case of a law student on Friday. The order will come almost a year after eight men gangraped a student of India's top Law College, National Law School of India, University (NLSIU) Bangalore.

Six of the accused have been convicted by a lower court on Wednesday. The seventh accused Raja is still absconding. The eighth accused is a minor and the trial is going on at a Juvenile court in Bangalore.

A Nepali national in her early 20s was abducted and raped by a gang of local youth in October 2012. The gang found the survivor in the company of her male college mate at NLSIU in the Bangalore University campus. They attacked her college mate, took the survivor deeper into the heavily wooded campus and took turns to rape her.

Of the total eight accused, seven were held by the police after a big manhunt. The victim left NLSIU and returned to Nepal after the incident. However she came to Bangalore to give all details of the incident to the trial court.
