BNAGALORE: Alleging that the state government was going bankrupt, Opposition leader in the Assembly Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that various ongoing social security schemes have stopped due to lack of funds.Siddaramaiah told reporters here on Tuesday that none of the beneficiaries of social security schemes like old-age, widow and physically handicapped pensioners had been receiving money from the last 4-5 months. Thousands of people were suffering and despite being aware of the problem, the state government was not doing anything, he alleged. “This apart, there was inordinate delay in issuing Bhagyalakshmi bonds. In addition to this, the new clause of mandatory submission of BPL cards to avail the benefits of the scheme was posing a problem for genuine beneficiaries,” he added.I will write a strong letter to the CM explaining all these things. If he does not respond, the party will resort to protests, Siddaramaiah warned.
