BCCI rejects Lanka’s itinerary changes
India has declined a request from Sri Lanka for another change in the itinerary of the coming triangular series.

New Delhi: India has declined a request from Sri Lanka for another change in the itinerary of the triangular series beginning in Colombo on August 14.

"There will be no change in the tournament programme," Niranjan Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had approached the BCCI and South Africa, the third team in the competition, to revert to the original schedule that entailed matches in Dambulla, a central Sri Lanka city.

But both the Indian and South Africa boards turned down the proposed changes, and insisted on the already changed itinerary according to which all seven matches are to be played in Colombo.

"We said no changes because it was very late (to alter the itinerary)," said Shah.

According to the original itinerary, the first four matches - including two of India - were to be played in Dambulla, about 150 km from Colombo.

But following SLC's internal politics, the matches were shifted to Colombo and two were allotted to the Sinhalese Sports Club in the city.

The rest of the matches, including the final on August 29, will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
