Over 250 birds have died over the last two weeks alone.

New Delhi: Bird flu has hit West Bengal once again, this time it’s the foothills of Darjeeling where culling has begun in 42 villages.

Over 250 birds have died over the last two weeks and subsequent tests at the High Security Diseases Laboratory in Bhopal has confirmed the outbreak.

Earlier on Saturday, the authorities gave the go-ahead to begin culling, targeting 18,000 chicken. 25 culling teams have spread around 41 villages for the operation.

Trading of poultry products has been banned in affected areas, and medicines are being distributed in the affected areas.
