Former BJP President Rajnath Singh termed the case of Sachan's death as serious and complicated.

New Delhi: BJP on Tuesday demanded a CBI probe into the death of Deputy CMO Y S Sachan after the report of a magisterial investigation stated that he had not committed suicide in jail but was murdered.

Former BJP President Rajnath Singh termed the case of Sachan's mysterious death as "serious and complicated". "After the magisterial probe report which states that Sachan did not commit suicide but was murdered, we demand that a CBI probe should be ordered into the matter and it should be monitored by the Supreme Court," Singh told PTI.

Sachan, accused of orchestrating the murder of CMO Dr B P Singh and also of committing irregularities in NHRM schemes, was found dead in a toilet in Lucknow jail on June 22.

Former Lucknow CMO A K Shukla has been arrested for embezzlement of NRHM funds and is also under the scanner for Sachan's murder.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain alleged that the BSP government led by Chief Minister Mayawati was trying to shield the guilty in the Sachan murder case.

"In this scam, two of Mayawati's ministers - Ananth Mishra and Babulal Kushwaha - are said to be involved and had to resign. The UP government has tried to shield the guilty," he said.

He charged the BSP and Congress with being hand-in-glove on this issue.

"This is a case of match-fixing between BSP and the Congress. The Congress is already cornered on the issue of corruption," Hussain said.
